    CLASSIFICATION: Classified Technical and Professional Exempt

    REPORTS TO: Director of Community Relations

    SUMMARY:
    The Community Engagement Multimedia Communication Specialist will support the District’s Family Engagement and Community Relations effort through the development and enhancement of strong partnerships with all district stakeholders. The Community Engagement and Marketing Specialist will assist in promoting a positive brand image of the District through multimedia communication to students, staff, families, and the community and the development, management, and promotion of special events.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Implement the District’s advertising and marketing strategies on social media and other platforms.
    2. Design and/or create videos and image graphics for print and web projects to meet specific promotional and advertising needs of the District and/or any of the schools.
    3. Plan and execute district and community outreach events and coordinate district presence at external community events in order to positively promote the strengths and successes of the district.
    4. Promote positive stories about district, students, and staff by providing photography and videography support for District and schools to post on web and social media.
    5. Assist in supporting and enhancing the District’s website and social media platforms to ensure accuracy and brand consistency among the District’s web page, individual school web pages, and social media.
    6. Assist with maintaining the district website and social media platforms for the purpose of effectively communicating and promoting district news and events.
    7. Assist with creation of templates for letters and flyers for schools, to provide brand consistency of internal and external communications.
    8. Support and promote school events and achievements through the district website and social media platforms.
    9. Effectively foster and manage partnerships, including community resource agencies, secondary educational institutions (high school district, community colleges), and marketing agencies.
    10. Support the work of the Family Engagement Coordinators in promoting family and community engagement opportunities, programs, meetings, and events.
    11. Perform other job duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION:

    • Associate of Arts Degree and/or Bachelors Degree preferred with professional training in graphic design, school communication, website, maintenance, social media, public relations, community relations, and/or journalism.

    SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (Preferred):

    • Ability to update website and create new pages within the platform.
    • Knowledge of social media best practices, web design and development, and project management geared toward advertising and marketing strategies.
    • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, etc.).
    • Ability to adhere to brand standards when creating graphic design elements.
    • Knowledge of use of Scanner, Digital Camera, PC and MAC, Web Graphics, A/V equipment and production.
    • Experience in media relations, video, web training, PowerPoint/Keynote presentations.
    • Knowledge and experience in event coordination.
    • Knowledge of OCR/ADA website compliance.
    • Ability to use computer, Microsoft Office, with a high level of proficiency.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills; communicates professionally with the ability to write District correspondence and publications.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the District staff, administrators, media, parents, and the community.
    • Ability to use discretion in releasing or distributing confidential information.
    • Work in a fast-paced environment and ability to multi-task.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively a team environment.
    • Ability to proofread and edit.
    • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Two to four years of job-related professional experience including graphic design, brand management, education/school communication, website maintenance, social media, video, public relations, and/or journalism.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • The work environment is primarily an office setting with some travel between the District office and schools.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    • Twelve-month year, Classified Technical and Professional Exempt, employee benefits, in accordance with Board policies.

    EVALUATION:

    • Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy onevaluation ofclassified staff.
