REPORTS TO: Director of Finance
SUMMARY: Finance and Operations Specialist will perform bookkeeping duties and accounting functions within District, USFR and GASB compliance.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Compose correspondence and portions of special projects and reports.
2. Monitor district budget control groups and maintain district chart of accounts.
3. Assist the Director of Finance in new fiscal year preparations and rollover process.
4. Serve as the first point of contact to assist sites with account codes, budget, InTouch and ERP Pro questions.
5. Provide training to new and existing staff in appropriate areas as directed by department administrators.
6. Post accounts payable vouchers.
7. Assist procurement with the development of bid packets and requests for proposals and qualifications as needed.
8. Reconcile district bank accounts monthly.
9. Assist with monthly board document preparation as needed.
10. Aid with financial audits.
11. Attend professional development to ensure current knowledge of USFR compliance and accounting practices.
12. Review requisitions for account code accuracy and required documentation.
13. Calculation of indirect cost and submission of grant reimbursement requests monthly.
14. Preparation of quarterly and annual submission of Medicaid reports to PCG.
15. Assist the Director of Finance with the implementation and communication of updated department processes.
16. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field is preferred, though relative school district finance experience will be considered in lieu of a 4-year degree.
EXPERIENCE:
Three years of experience with accounting, budgeting or fiscal/clerical activities, including using automated financial systems
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
· Preferably either education or experience will include the utilization of computer software for fiscal and budget reporting and record keeping.
· Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
· A high level of English proficiency is required.
· Ability to communicate the department practices orally and in writing.
· Ability to work with complex situations and procedures in financial-accounting reports.
· Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret technical data.
· Ability to use 10-key calculator with a high degree of accuracy.
· Ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets (Excel) and data entry with a high degree of proficiency.
· Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy, and attention to detail.
· Ability to use independent judgment in setting priorities and making decisions.
· Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work environment is the normal office setting.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month year, Professional Exempt – Level 1A, employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of classified staff.
