    CLASSIFICATION: Classified Exempt Schedule

    REPORT TO: Director of Student Wellness

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The Family Engagement Specialist will work closely with district leaders, school leaders and Parent Educators at our schools across RSD, and report to the Director of Student Wellness. In addition, they will provide professional development and coaching related to family engagement and will coordinate programs and services that promote and encourage families to participate in their child’s education. The Family Engagement Specialist will collaborate with district leadership to design and coordinate authentic opportunities for families to engage in decision-making at both the site and district level. Finally, the Family Engagement Specialist will collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Division to develop parent educator trainings.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Develop a professional development plan and lead professional development for Parent Educators and other district stakeholders on effective family engagement strategies.
    2. Assist campus Parent Educators with parent recruitment and parent involvement to increase academic achievement.
    3. Monitor attendance and participation of Parent Educators during professional development and scheduled meetings.
    4. Collaborate with the campus principal to provide performance feedback for Parent Educators.
    5. Prepare periodic reports and data on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for district leadership or community partners.
    6. Plan, organize, and coordinate parent meetings, workshops, and trainings at the school and District levels.
    7. Coordinate the creation and distribution of information regarding parent meetings, parenting classes, workshops, in- services, and community services as provided by the schools and District.
    8. Collaborate with District instructional specialists to coordinate, develop, and design strategies for reading, math, and other curricula for families to assist in working with their children.
    9. Collaborate with Data and Accountability Director to communicate and create partnerships with attendance clerks and Parent Educators to increase student attendance and identify possible root causes for student absences.
    10. Maintain a district parent database as it relates to family engagement in classes, workshops, and other programs for the purpose of program monitoring, generating reports, evaluation and for providing better services for children, families, and school staff.
    11. Develop and maintain systems for capturing input and feedback from sites as it pertains to district decision-making and priorities.
    12. Assist the District with special projects and community events.
    13. Act as a liaison between the District and community partners to build and sustain positive relationships that benefit families, the district, and the greater South Phoenix community.
    14. Perform other job duties as assigned.
    EDUCATION:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. (E.g., Education, Communications, Public Relations, Social Work, or related field)

    EXPERIENCE:
    • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience preferred.
    • Two years demonstrated experience leading, supervising, or training employees preferred.

    SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
    • Understanding of effective family engagement.
    • Knowledge of community services and resources that benefit Roosevelt families and are aligned to district priorities and goals.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators of the targeted community.
    • Ability to teach, train, and evaluate effectiveness of parenting classes, workshops, and in- services.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and applications.
    • Familiarity with highly technical or cloud-based collaboration tools, including SharePoint Teams, and with social media applications. • Understanding of Memorandums of Understanding and Intergovernmental Agreements.
    • Experience building relationships & partnerships across organizations.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills and computer skills.
    • Outstanding strategic thinking, planning and communications skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and with a team, resolving issues with a positive outcome.
    • High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
    • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and staff.
    • Bilingual (Spanish and English) with proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    The work environment is a normal school setting; the noise level ranges from quiet to loud but is usually moderate.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Twelve-month contracted, Classified Exempt Schedule, employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.

    EVALUATION:
    Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of classified staff.
