TITLE: Instructional Specialist - District Coach - Science & Technoly
CLASSIFICATION: Certified
REPORTS TO: Dirctor of Teacher Effectiveness and Instruction
SUMMARY: Provides instructional and program design expertise for the development and support of not less than one of the following areas: ELA, Enrichment, Math, Science, Social Studies and/or Special Areas. The Instructional Specialist is responsible for providing an instructional program designed to assist teachers with developing skills in the preparation of effective learning (lesson) plans, presentation of content, classroom management and school/community communications. Serves as a liaison between the school and the Teaching & Learning Division.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Designs and implements staff development training for teachers, staff and parents.
2. Collaborates with district content area [ELA, Enrichment, Math, Science, Social Studies and/or Special Areas] lead teacher(s) to facilitate PLCs.
3. Collaborates with district content area staff/coaches to provide quality extracurricular experiences for students.
4. Collaborates with Assessment and Evaluation Specialist, site principal and/or district content area lead teacher(s) to align teaching materials/resources, develop curriculum, pacing guides and common assessments.
5. Lead professional development in specific content areas aligned with current AZ State Standards.
6. Collaborates with district coaches to develop and facilitate professional development; regarding age appropriate interventions for grade bands.
7. Collaborates with English Language Acquisition Specialist to embed ESL and language development techniques into content area curriculum and professional development.
8. Collaborates with members of the Teaching and Learning Division to plan and deliver professional development.
9. Collaborates with members of the Teaching and Learning Division to plan extended and supplementary student learning experiences (Enrichment Camps, Summer School and/or 21st CCLC/Extended Day Programs).
10. Collaborates with members of the Teaching and Learning Division to design systems for identification, services and completion of all documentation related to gifted education.
11. Performs other coaching related duties that may be assigned.
EDUCATION:
Required – Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field
Preferred – Master’s Degree in education or related field
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Required – Valid Arizona teacher certification
Required – Content area endorsement(s) or evidence demonstrating completion of endorsement within one school year.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three years teaching experience
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
Knowledge and experience in designing and implementing staff development
Ability to work effectively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents.
WORKING CONDTIONS:
The working environment is a normal office setting.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 Month, Certified Coach & Teacher on Special Assignment Salary Schedule, employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
EVALUATION:
Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of certified staff.
